Last month a Huawei employee revealed the name of the Android P but the name is not correct. Now Android P is official available after some beta testing and it is called Android Pie. And here is a good news for the Essential Phone users. The Essential PH-1 smartphone starts receiving the new OS Android 9.0-Pie update.

New Android version Android Pie 9.0 packs a ton of new features. One of the major changes is the navigation system, navigation is now gesture-based. The Android pie has also a new feature for battery called Adaptive Battery which uses machine learning to improve power management.

Since Essential Phone starts receiving the Android 9.0 Pie, Essential Phone making it the first non-Pixel phone to receive the Android 9.0 update. The new OS update is 1047.2MB in size. Here is the full changelog for the Essential Phone:

  • Gesture-based navigation
  • Adaptive Battery
  • Adaptive brightness
  • Refreshed Notifications
  • Rotation suggestion

There is no info yet on when other devices will start to receive the new OS update. However, the OnePlus 6, Nokia 7 Plus, and Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S may receive the update soon.
