The flagship OnePlus 5T was launched in November last year. Now the company has started rolling out Android 8.1 Oreo beta update for OnePlus 5 and

OnePlus 5T.

OnePlus 5 users will get the OxygenOS Open Beta 6 OS while OnePlus 5T users will taste OxygenOS Open Beta 4 OS. Both Beta versions are based on  Android 8.1 Oreo operating system.

The size of the update file is about 1.6GB which includes latest Android security patch for February 2018. The update will be available via over-the-air (OTA) for those users who have already flashed a previous Open Beta build. Don’t worry, has provided a link for those users who’ve not flashed Open Beta build. They’ll need to flash this new update manually by downloading it, the link is given at the end of the post.

The update brings some new features such as a new call pick-up gesture, enabling users to answer the call by raising the phone. More clock styles are available for ambient display and company also added new optimizations in gaming mode for immersive gaming experience including power saving and pausing adaptive brightness.

OnePlus 5 has been launched in two variants in India and will be available on Amazon India for now. OnePlus Fans can also get the smartphone offline at the pop-up events being held in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai over the next two days.

Vodafone prepaid users will get 10GB of data per month at the price of 1GB for 5 months on buying the smartphone between June 22 and September 30. Similarly, postpaid subscribers of the operator will get 9GB of additional data free for 5 billing cycles if they are on plans with 1GB or more data; on top of this, Vodafone Red users wit 4G SIM will get 10GB of extra free data per month for 3 months through by logging into the MyVodafone app.

SBI credit and debit card holders will get flat Rs. 1.500 cashback on the OnePlus 5 price, on top of the up to Rs. 1,000 exchange offer the company is running (valid till June 28 across all authorized retail channels). Kindle users who purchase the handset between June 22 and July 31 will get promotional e-book credit worth Rs. 500 when logging into the app from the smartphone.

Sign in on the Amazon Prime Video app on the phone to get Rs. 250 cashback in Amazon Pay balance. All OnePlus 5 users will be eligible for 12-month Accidental Damage Insurance by Service on downloading the Kotak 811 savings account and activating it with an initial deposit of Rs. 1,000.

The dual camera setup- OnePlus claims the setup is the “highest resolution dual-camera system on a smartphone”, comprising a 16-megapixel main camera and a 20-megapixel telephoto camera. The two cameras together provide effects like Bokeh and lossless zoom up to 2x. OnePlus has chosen include only EIS on the smartphone, forgoing OIS. Also added is a Pro Mode for manual adjustments. the OnePlus 5’s dual rear camera setup supports EIS and bears a 16-megapixel main camera with a 1.12-micron pixel Sony IMX398 sensor and a f/1.7 aperture. This is clubbed with a 20-megapixel telephoto camera featuring a 1-micron pixel Sony IMX350 sensor and a f/2.6 aperture. OnePlus 5 sale in India starts from Thursday itself, via Amazon India. The first Early Access Sale opens at 4:30 pm IST for users that registered for notification. The OnePlus 5 will then be made available for open sale from Amazon India, OnePlus Store, and OnePlus Experience Stores (in Delhi and Bengaluru) from 12 am IST, Tuesday, June 27.

OnePlus 5 Design:

The smartphone is built out of anodized aluminum and does indeed look like the iPhone 7 Plus, with the primary difference being the shape of the Home Button. The company has deviated from a traditional slate body to a curvier approach. The sides are curved, the back is curved and there’s focus on some intricate details.

OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei showed off a new “continuous hard line around the edge of the phone”, called the Horizon Line. The phone is slim at 7.25mm and super light at 153 grams. OnePlus 5 will be available in two color variants – Midnight Black and Slate Grey.

The focus speed is up by 40% — thanks to the second camera, there’s 2X dual camera zoom for clearer long distance shots, improved HDR mode, and a Pro mode. The rear camera setup features a dual-LED flash module and boasts of 4K video recording with EIS. The camera also delivers optical zoom up to 2x, and virtual zoom up to 8x using a multi-frame software algorithm.

OnePlus sets to release OnePlus 5 on June 20. Before its official launch, a new teaser video revealed on Twitter that shows OnePlus 5 would be coming with a filter for blue light along with several new software features.

The video shows an eBook reader that comes with a manually adjustable setting for the screen’s color temperature.
