Meizu Releases Teaser Confirms Secondary Display On The Pro 7

Meizu has already confirmed that the Meizu Pro 7 is the upcoming flagship smartphone from the company and will meet us on July 26 at the big event at the Opera House in China. We can say that the Pro 7 is the high-end product from the company. We already know that what makes Pro 7 Unique from other smartphones “a secondary display at the back side of the phone”.

Before today it was just a rumor that Meizu Pro 7 will feature a secondary display on the back side of the phone but now company confirms through teasers. Meizu has released a few teasers for the Pro 7 and each image highlight the secondary window display on the upcoming flagship. Teasers also confirm that the Meizu Pro 7 will have a secondary display at the back along with a dual camera setup.



According to the previous leak, the Pro 7’s secondary display will be a 2-inch E-ink screen and will support black and white mode, music mode and other. The secondary screen will be usable even after shutting down the phone.

As per previous leak or rumor, the Pro 7 features a 5.2-inch 1080p primary display with Helio X30 chipset. For photography, it has 12MP Sony IMX386 + IMX 286 dual camera setup at the back and a 16MP front camera.

An image of the Meizu Flow leaked ahead of its launch and for audiophiles who are familiar with earphones, it looks very familiar. A Twitter user @LeaksEva who had previously seen the earphones on a French retail site cdiscount.com for €599.99 tweeted that it looks like the AKG K3003i released back in 2011.

New info from tech analyst, Kevin Wang says Xiaomi also has an event on that same day. The Mi 5X is the latest Xiaomi device in the news. The new smartphone is the same one that is supposed to take on Vivo and OPPO with its photography centered specs. Initially thought to launch under a new sub-brand called Lanmi (Blue Rice) and as the Lanmi X1, it appears things have taken a different turn.






The Xiaomi Mi 5X will feature dual rear cameras said to be a combination of a Sony IMX386 sensor and a Samsung S5K3M3 CMOS sensor. It will also have a 16MP front facing camera. A leaked poster says it will have a 5.5-inch display, Snapdragon 625 processor, and 4GB of RAM. The price tag is set at ¥1999 (~$295).





There is also mention of a high-end model with a Snapdragon 660, 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. If the base version is priced at almost $300, we should expect at most a $350 price on the high-end model and that is not too far from the price of the Mi 6.

Xiaomi teased the new product today by making a joke about a photo studio run by a certain Mr. X. Turns out they were referring to their new brand ambassador, Wu Yifan as a picture uploaded on his Weibo page shows him in a photographer’s studio holding a phone.

Recently, the senior vice-president of Meizu, Jeffery Yuan had updated his Weibo profile with an image of PRO 7. This indicated that the Meizu PRO 7 may launch on the rumored date of July 26. This indicated that the Meizu PRO 7 may launch on the rumored date of July 26.

The Meizu PRO 7 is now confirmed to debut on July 26 through a launch event that will be held at the headquarters of the company in Zhuhai, China. The event will begin at 7:30 PM local time.





The word “window” in the above Weibo post probably refers to the secondary screen that is present on the rear side of the Meizu PRO 7 duo. This secondary screen can be used for seeing notifications. It can also function as a viewfinder for the camera. It can be also used for playing games. Yesterday, some images of the leaked invitations of a box with a dummy unit of the Meizu PRO 7 had surfaced. One of the images of the dummy unit of the PRO 7 contains a secondary screen with the information on the launch date and venue mentioned on it.






The Meizu PRO 7 and PRO 7 Plus are speculated to respectively feature 5.2-inch FHD and 5.7-inch QHD screens that will probably support Quad HD resolution.

Fresh details suggest that all the variants of the Meizu PRO & and PRO 7 Plus will be driven by the MediaTek Helio X30 chipset that includes a ten-core processor. Both the smartphones will be equipped with a 12-megapixel dual rear camera setup. It is speculated to include Sony IMX386 and IMX286 sensors.

The details include that there are two versions of the Pro 7, one with a secondary display and another version without a secondary display, both powered by Helio X30. The Meizu Pro 7 Plus, on the other hand, will have a secondary display and will be powered by the latest Exynos 8895 as stated earlier.

A post made via the chip maker’s official Weibo account highlights one major feature of the 10nm SoC which is gaming. According to MediaTek, the Helio X30 supports LPDDR4X RAM.

LPDDR4X allows the use of memories with higher clock speeds but with better power efficiency. The new memory standard has a 40% voltage reduction (1.1V to 0.6V) allowing data to be sent and received at improved speeds but without draining much power.

The Helio X30 also supports UFS 2.0 and UFS 2.1. Phones with any of these storage types have faster read and write speeds compared to eMMC.

The Helio X30 is a 10nm deca-core chip clocked at 2.5GHz. It supports dual cameras, a feature present in the upcoming Meizu Pro7 and has a PowerVR 7XTP-MT4 as its GPU.

Meizu’s official Weibo account quoted the original post with a statement that loosely translates to focus on “game players”. So if you enjoy mobile gaming, you may want to take a look at the Pro7 when it launches because Meizu Pro7 smartphone is powered by the Helio X30.
