MIUI 9 Brings Small Interface Design Changes
More details about the upcoming MIUI 9 custom ROM have continued to surface online. We already saw a leaked screenshot of the lock screen showing that it will come with quick launch shortcuts for some apps, including the torchlight. Now, Xiaomi is said to have invited some media persons to have an advance feel of the MIUI 9 and they have some story to tell.
The MIUI icon has not changed on the version 9 but there are some few tweaks here and there on the interface but no major changes. The changes would only be in some of the quick launch shortcuts. Looks like most of the major changes in the UI will be in the kernel build as the MIUI 9 ROM is expected to be lighter and simpler.
In addition, MIUI 9 is said to come with some other features like screen recorder, split screen, and Picture-in-Picture mode. The new UI is expected to be unveiled officially at the end of this month or early next month.

MIUI 9 Lock Screen Design Leaks Will Release Before August 16
Xiaomi official has hinted that the MIUI 9 will be released on before August 16 which is a little over a month from now. One of such indication is the rate at which the MIUI 9 features have been coming out.
A leaked screenshot said to be the MIUI 9 Interface’s lock screen’s new look appeared online and it was immediately confirmed by Xiaomi via the MIUI Weibo account that the interface is really for the MIUI 9.
the interface of lock screen design will see a slight change from that of the MIUI 8. The screenshot shows the locked screen will have a few app shortcuts to MIJIA app, Universal Remote control app, Mi-Pay, Mi Bus card, while at the bottom there is a quick launch button for the flashlight. The apps shortcut may likely be customizable and not necessarily be specifically for the apps shown.
Already, Xiaomi has revealed the next-gen MIUI interface would come with such features as split-screen and picture-in-picture with screenshots of the interface showing the features. More features would definitely be revealed to come on the interface that is tagged to be fluid and more powerful.

Xiaomi Reveals MIUI 9 Interface Screenshots
Xiaomi‘s Vice-President in charge of marketing, Huang has shared a couple of screenshots of the MIUI 9. The Vice-President was trying to get feedback from fans about what they think of the new interface. The leaked screenshots are coming barely two weeks after the MIUI Weibo account officially confirmed that MIUI 9 is in development, quoting the words of CEO Lei Jun that the MIUI 9 would be more fluid and powerful.
The theme in use doesn’t really look spectacular with some comments pointing out that the theme is looking rather plain. Of course, there is the option of changing the theme to a more sophisticated look. The Xiaomi Vice-President did not say if this is the icon style because it seems to resemble those of previous versions.
Certainly, it is still a while before we expect Xiaomi to officially release the MIUI 9 because the preview versions have not been seen to have gone through closed and open beta up till now. So, it may still be a while before we’ll see the stable ROM of MIUI 9 rolling out. Xiaomi better hastens up though as Google will soon release Android 8.0 whereas MIUI 9 will be based on Android 7 Nougat.

Xiaomi UI update MIUI 9 is now speculated to be available from July. And it is expected to bring some new features. Xiaomi was speculated to make the split-screen mode so now expected to come with MIUI 9 on Android Nougat devices. And more features also like picture-in-picture functionality is expected to arrive with MIUI 9 update.

According to previous reports, Xiaomi has removed SMS scheduling feature because of low number of SMS users and Xiaomi would allow its users to delete system apps such as Calendar or Calculator in MIUI 9. The screen recorder feature is also expected to arrive with MIUI 9.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun had also confirmed recently that MIUI 9 will be more stable, powerful and smoother. the MIUI 9 may get announced in July and it may roll out to users starting from August. Xiaomi is expected to confirm on the Mi Devices that will be receiving it in July or August. However, a recent leak has revealed that MIUI 9 would be arriving on devices like Mi 6, Mi 5c, Mi MIX, Mi Note 2, Redmi Note 4X, Redmi Note 4, Mi 4C, Mi 4S, Mi 5, Mi 5s, Mi 5s Plus, and also Mi Pad 3 tablet.
