MIUI 9 Comes With Smart Interception Function

The new MIUI 9 ROM from the Xiaomi is all set to launch on July 26. Already, Xiaomi has started recruitment for the closed Beta Program for the new ROM followed by the Open beta.

We already know some new features of MIUI 9 ROM like picture-in-picture mode and also includes the split-screen feature which would allow users run two separate apps on the same screen.

Now new leaks come from a beta tester has tipped, the MIUI 9 to come with a Smart advert filter which blocks ads embedded in apps from popping up unsolicited. The new feature already appears on the beta version of MIUI 9.

This new feature works just like the ad block feature of the opera browser. Users will get the options to turn it on and off. The feature is still in development and is said not to block all advertisements presently but that could change in the near future when it has been perfected.

Xiaomi has slatted a launch event on July 26. The company will announce Mi 5X on said date. The smartphone has been officially made available for registrations, but the company has not revealed specifications of the smartphone.

A new device has listed on FCC with model number MDG2. The FCC doesn’t directly mention that the details belong to Mi 5X. It has 3000mAh battery. But rumors suggest that Mi 5x will come with a 3,680mAh battery.





The FCC documents also do not contain any other specifications of the device except the battery. According to FCC document, the Xiaomi Mi 5X will feature a 3000mAh battery and will support USB Type-C that is equipped with a 10W adapter (5V/2A).

However, the official listening reveals some interesting features of Mi 5X. It features a 3.5mm audio jack at the bottom. Xiaomi Mi 5X is the first smartphone from the company will feature 3.5mm jack on the bottom side of the phone.

Since the company has confirmed that  Xiaomi Mi 5X will debut with MIUI 9 update on July 26 and will get the latest software upgrade which will be based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. It will be priced at 1,999 Yuan (~$295). It is coming in colors like rose gold, gold, and black.

Xiaomi all sets to launch MIUI 9 in next week on on July 26. Now the company has released two MIUI 9 wallpapers ahead of the launch that is set to come with the new version of the OS.

These two new wallpapers are exactly same as we have been previously seen in teasers. The first wallpaper feature a colorful material design setup and the second wallpaper is simpler, only showing several shades of blue.

According to reports, there aren’t many changes in MIUI 9 design as compared to MIUI 8. However, the new OS is said to come with multiple new features and improvements including Picture-in-Picture mode, Split Screen mode, a Quicky Reply feature, better battery optimization, and more.

MIUI 9 Comes With Redesigned Dock Bar Theme Leaked

An official poster released today by Xiaomi announced that the Xiaomi Mi 5X will launch on July 26. It also mentioned that the new version of Xiaomi’s custom ROM, MIUI 9 will debut on the device.

Ahead of the official release, we have been getting leaks of MIUI 9, even from the official MIUI account. Last week there were images of the new split-screen feature, and today we got an exclusive preview of a new official theme.

The image shows the lock-screen with a new material design wallpaper, and also the home screen. The major change in the home screen is the dock bar. The icons have a flat design and don’t have texts beneath them, giving them a clean look.




Xiaomi says MIUI 9 will come with three new themes that you can choose from when you are setting up your phone after the update.

Apart from the official theme reveal, the Mi Max 2 also receives the split-screen feature. However, this is still limited to those running the developer ROM. The feature is available in the MIUI Global Developer 7.7.1.3 update. So if you own a Mi Max 2 and you are on the developer ROM, you can download the update here.

An official Weibo post from the company confirms that the Xiaomi Mi 5X will be launching with MIUI 9 on July 26. The post also carries an image that confirms that clearly mentions the July 26.

It confirms that the Xiaomi Mi 5X and MIUI 9 will be introduced together on the said date. Hence, the rumor mill was speculating that MIUI 9 would be introduced alongside the Xiaomi Mi Max 2.





Chinese celebrity Kris Wu can be seen endorsing the Mi 5X. It seems to be coming with a metal unibody design. It features dual cameras placed at the top-left corner of the back panel. The rear also features a fingerprint reader. Another poster of the Xiaomi Mi 5X has revealed that it would be featuring a 5.5-inch display that would be probably featuring a full HD resolution. The Snapdragon 625 chipset and 4 GB RAM are present under the hood of the Xiaomi Mi 5X. It will be priced at 1,999 Yuan (~$295).

The MIUI 9 update is expected to arrive with revamped icons and new wallpapers. It is also expected to bring some new features such as split screen mode that has already appeared in leaked shots and Picture-in-Picture mode. As Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has confirmed before, the MIUI 9 will be smoother, more stable and powerful.

MIUI 9 Screenshots Leaked Shows Split-Screen

We have seen a lot of rumors and leaks of the upcoming major update to the Xiaomi’s custom MIUI. The new version called MIUI 9 has been in development for nearly a year and is rumored to launch next month. Today, we have some screenshots courtesy of Androidhits that reveals some additional details about MIUI 9. The image shows a screenshot of the about section of the phone.

It shows MIUI 8.7.7.6 and not MIUI 9. The version number is the alpha build of MIUI 9. The “About Phone” section now wears a new look. The specification details such as the screen size, resolution, battery capacity and CPU have been given icons.

The below image is a screenshot of the recent apps menu. The main addition there is the split-screen icon at the top left corner. Split-screen multitasking is now a default in Android Nougat but Xiaomi has added it to MIUI 9. Reports say it will be available to devices running Marshmallow that get the MIUI 9 update.



Split-screen multi-tasking allows you to run two apps simultaneously. It is better appreciated if you use a large screen device.

MIUI 9 is expected to launch before August 19 and debut on the Mi 6.

More details about the upcoming MIUI 9 custom ROM have continued to surface online. We already saw a leaked screenshot of the lock screen showing that it will come with quick launch shortcuts for some apps, including the torchlight. Now, Xiaomi is said to have invited some media persons to have an advance feel of the MIUI 9 and they have some story to tell.

The MIUI icon has not changed on the version 9 but there are some few tweaks here and there on the interface but no major changes. The changes would only be in some of the quick launch shortcuts. Looks like most of the major changes in the UI will be in the kernel build as the MIUI 9 ROM is expected to be lighter and simpler.

In addition, MIUI 9 is said to come with some other features like screen recorder, split screen, and Picture-in-Picture mode. The new UI is expected to be unveiled officially at the end of this month or early next month.
