Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Phablet to Launch in India on July 18

Xiaomi has just scheduled a new event in India which will take place in next week on July 18. The invitation has the title “Big Is Back” and the caption “Last year, we made ripples with this new category and now it is back. Join us in witnessing the return on ‘BIG’ at Xiaomi media briefing,” both of which are very strong hints that the Mi Max 2 is indeed what the company is launching.

Specifications:

The Mi Max 2 features a metal body with a large 6.44-inch full HD 1080p display. It’s also equipped with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 12-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, an IR sensor on top, and a USB Type-C port.

The Mi Max 2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 64-bit octa-core processor, 4GB of RAM, either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, and a 5,300mAh battery.

The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 was initially launched in China back in May with a price tag of 1,699 Yuan. It’s available in both Matte Black and Gold, both of which are expected to come to India as well.

Today, Xiaomi adds the flagship Mi 6 and the recently launched Mi Max 2 to the phones available in the Eurasian country.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is a dual camera flagship powered by the Snapdragon 853. It has a 5.15-inch full HD display, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Xiaomi has settled for a dual rear camera configuration akin to that of the iPhone 7 Plus.

The main sensor is a 12MP 1.25μm wide-angle sensor with a f/1.8 aperture, 4-axis OIS, and 6P lens and the second sensor is another 12MP 1.0μm telephoto lens with a f/2.6 aperture, PDAF and a focus range of 52mm which lets you take portrait mode images.

For the selfie camera, Xiaomi has put an 8MP camera that records 1080p videos at 30fps. The Mi 6 has a 3350mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0. The Mi 6 doesn’t have an audio jack but works with USB Type-C headphones. The device is also splash resistant.

The Mi 6 will be available for purchase on the 6th of July at 11:00 AM Moscow time for 29,990 Rubles. You can head to the official Mi Russia site and register to get notified.

The Mi Max 2 is for those who enjoy the extra screen estate of a tablet but still want a phone. It has a 6.44-inch 1080p display. There is a Snapdragon 625 paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. You shouldn’t worry about battery life as the combination of the 5300mAh non-removable battery and the power-efficient SD625 should get you through a whole day at most.

The Mi Max 2 also packs an impressive Sony IMX386 sensor on the rear and a 5MP front facing camera. There is 9V/2A fast charging to help refill the large battery as fast as possible.

The Mi Max 2 will sell for 19,9990 Rubles.

The official site also has the Mi Band 2 but there is no price at the moment. There is a chance it will also go on sale on July 6 alongside the phones.

Xiaomi has provided camera samples of the Mi Max 2. the Mi Max 2 uses a Sony IMX386 sensor with a 1.25µm sensor. The pictures look good and were taken in various locations including Egypt and Tunisia. There are a couple of night shots and images taken under low-light conditions. Xiaomi Mi Max 2 was unveiled on May 25 in China. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 went on its first flash sale in India on January 23 and the company managed to sell over 250,000 units of the phablet.  The first flash sale of Redmi 4A started in India on March 23 and the Chinese company again managed to sell over 250,000 units of the budget phone. On May 23 began the first flash sale of Redmi 4. Again, the company could sell 250,000 units of the phone.

On May 23, Manu Kumar Jain, the Vice President and Managing Director of Xiaomi India released an interesting tweet which probably hints that the Mi Max 2 may launch in India on July 23.

Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Finally launched at an official event in China today. This is the most flagship smartphone of the company. 

Design wise this phone doesn’t look more impressive the only changes was done at the back are the antenna band design on the top as well as the bottom. The fingerprint sensor is still on the back. The design looks a bit curvier than before.

The Mi Max 2 comes with the same 12MP IMX386 sensor with dual tone LED flash and 5MP front-facing camera for selfies. The pixel size has been increased to 1.25um for better quality pictures along with a night mode enhancement feature. Other camera specs include PDAF, dual tone LED flash, and dynamic range adjustment.

It has 6.44-inch display and Max 2 runs on Android 7 with MIUI 8.2.

The Mi Max comes with a large 5300mAh battery that promises up to 18 hours of video playback. You can get 9 hours of gaming, 21 hour navigation, 57 hour talktime, and 10 day music playback with this huge battery on board. Further, charging it won’t be an issue since the phone supports QC 3.0 and charges up to 68% in an hour.

Geekbench’s appearance doesn’t usually reveal so much about the specification of the phone but it does reveal something.

Now, according to a Chinese leakster, Kumamoto, Xiaomi will be increasing the battery capacity by 500mAh on the Mi Max 2. the Mi Max 2 will be coming with a 5,349mAh battery from Yan Wanda.

He also claims that the phablet would be powered by Snapdragon 626 chipset. The upcoming Mi Max 2 is also speculated to arrive in Standard and High models.

The Standard edition of Mi Max 2 is speculated to arrive with Snapdragon 626 chipset, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB storage. The High model is rumored to be fueled by the newly launched Snapdragon 660 SoC, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB storage.

According to leaked informations the 12-megapxiel Sony IMX378 camera sensor that is present on flagship phones like Google Pixel and Xiaomi Mi 5S will be present on the rear side of the Mi Max 2. It is speculated to come with a 5-megapixel frontal shooter.  The original Mi Max came with 16-megapixel rear snapper and a 5-megapixel selfie shooter.

It is also expected from Xiaomi to include a USB Type-C port on Mi Max 2.
