WhatsApp will soon bring WhatsApp picture in picture (PIP) video mode for Android users. The company is currently working on the PIP video feature for Android devices. iOS devices have received WhatsApp picture in picture video support earlier this year. The new WhatsApp feature for Android devices will allow WhatsApp users to play YouTube, Instagram videos in a small window within the messaging app itself. So It means you will not need to exit from the WhatsApp to view a video sent by any contact. The new update is really interesting.

According to WABetaInfo report, WhatsApp is currently working on its picture-in-picture mode for the Android app. The company has recently submitted a new update for WhatsApp on the Google Play Beta Programme. The new WhatsApp update bringing the version up to 2.18.234. The report claims that the new feature is currently not available for all users due to “development reasons”. Before official release, the company will do several improvements in WhatsApp picture in picture video mode for Android devices. However, the report also said that WhatsApp has been working for the last few months on this new feature. It will be available in one of the next few updates.

WhatsApp Picture in Picture video mode

When the new WhatsApp picture in picture video feature will be available for Android, a White-coloured Play icon will be present on any YouTube or Instagram video link shared on the messaging app. Note, at initial launch, Instagram Stories will not be available for the picture-in-picture mode. To watch the video You will have to tap on the white icon and the linked video will pop-up in a small box inside the app. This pop-up will have a feature to expanded or placed anywhere by dragging within the app itself. So, you will not be getting obstacle by the pop-up and can continue texting with your contacts.
