Samsung unveiled its most ambitious product Galaxy S8 in India on Wednesday after the Note7 fire fiasco, looking to make a comeback into premium segment currently dominated by Apple. S8 made a debut in New York in last March, and here it will cost Rs 57,900 for the 5.8-inch entry model and Rs 64,900 for 6.2-inch S8+. Deliveries will begin from May 5.
The Korean electronics giant suffered a major loss and took a big hit to its reputation after repeated incidents of fire on the Note7 smartphone, prompting the company to scrap production of the smartphone and to call back already delivered devices. Likely though, the controversy around Note7 happened before deliveries started in India.
Armed with S8, Samsung is hoping to get its major comeback with premium buyers.
