DOOGEE Note60 W Debuts with a 6.38-Inch Wide Display, 6,500mAh Battery, and an Unapologetic Huawei Pura X View Design

If you have been eyeing the viral wide-screen candybar phone trend kickstarted in China by Huawei’s lavish Pura X View, but recoiled at its four-figure luxury price tag and complete lack of Google services, the budget clone ecosystem has moved with predictable speed. At the 140th Canton Fair, rugged and budget phonemaker DOOGEE officially took the wraps off the DOOGEE Note60 W.

Rather than sticking to the tall, narrow “TV remote” proportions that dominate today’s sub-$200 Android market, the Note60 W embraces an unconventional 6.38-inch 90Hz wide aspect ratio screen. But the real talking point isn’t just the wide-aspect panel; it is the fact that DOOGEE has built an unapologetic, near-identical hardware tribute to the Huawei Pura X View-right down to the triangular camera plateau, ribbed pinstripe backplate, and default lock screen art.

The Pura X View Tribute Nobody Expected

To say the DOOGEE Note60 W is “inspired” by Huawei’s luxury flagship is an understatement.

When Huawei introduced the Pura X View earlier this autumn, it created an unexpected domestic sensation in China. Moving away from tall 20:9 displays, Huawei engineered an ultra-wide 16:9.5 candybar phone that felt more like holding a digital passport or an e-reader. It sold over 700,000 units despite costing upwards of 7,000 CNY (~$1,000).

DOOGEE saw that momentum and copied the exterior homework almost stroke-for-stroke:

• The Triangular Camera Island: The rear module mimics Huawei’s sculpted, geometric camera housing, arranging the primary lens, auxiliary sensors, and LED flash in the same asymmetrical layout.
• The Ribbed Spine: The backplate features the same vertical pinstripe texture running down the chassis, punctuated by vertical brand typography in the lower corner.
• The Obvious Clues: While Huawei managed a paper-thin 6.7mm chassis with razor-thin uniform bezels, DOOGEE’s budget reality is evident upfront. The Note60 W carries a noticeable bottom bezel (chin) and measures a thicker 8.4mm, reflecting the challenges of fitting budget display glass and generic internal components.

Why Wide Aspect Ratios Are Suddenly Making Waves

While traditional flagships keep stretching taller to boast bigger diagonal screen numbers on paper, usability often suffers. Tall 20:9 or 21:9 phones require finger gymnastics to reach top notification bars, while virtual keyboards feel cramped in portrait orientation.

A wide-screen slab like the Note60 W changes the daily ergonomics:

• Two-Thumb Typing: The broader horizontal width provides generous keyboard spacing, significantly cutting down typing typos compared to standard narrow budget phones.
• Web and Document Reading: Web pages, PDFs, and spreadsheets display with full column widths without forcing aggressive down-scaling or constant horizontal scrolling.
• Aspect Ratio Harmony: 16:9 video content fills more of the physical screen area with substantially smaller black pillar-boxes.

The Spec Sheet: 6,500mAh Meets Modern Android 17

Beyond the eye-catching shell, DOOGEE has outfitted the Note60 W with hardware tailored for multi-day daily use:

• 6.38-Inch 90Hz Display: The front panel steps up to a 90Hz refresh rate, ensuring fluid scrolling through social feeds and app drawers.
• 6,500mAh High-Density Battery: Despite keeping the chassis under 8.4mm, DOOGEE packed a massive 6,500mAh cell inside. Paired with an energy-efficient entry-level octa-core processor, this device is built to cruise through two to three days of moderate usage without hunting for an outlet.
• Android 17 Out of the Box: The biggest operational advantage over the phone it imitates is the software. While the Huawei Pura X View runs HarmonyOS with zero native Google Play Services, the Note60 W ships with Android 17. That means full access to the Google Play Store, YouTube, Google Maps, banking apps, and Android Auto without sideloading workarounds.

DOOGEE Note60 W vs. Huawei Pura X View

Early Verdict: A Fun Experiment for Budget Shoppers

DOOGEE hasn’t locked in official international retail pricing or its exact chipset choice yet (which will likely be a reliable Unisoc or entry MediaTek 4G/5G processor). However, given the brand’s established playbook, the Note60 W is expected to retail well under the $150 mark across global channels like AliExpress and Amazon.

Purists might roll their eyes at another shameless design clone from Shenzhen. But for mobile enthusiasts curious to try the wide-screen pocket form factor without dropping flagship cash or dealing with Huawei’s software limitations, the DOOGEE Note60 W represents one of the most intriguing-and practical-budget curiosities of the year.
