Apple Launches 14-Inch MacBook Pro with M6: 12-Core CPU & GPU, Dual 16-Core Neural Engine, 24-Hour Battery, and India Pricing Starting at ₹2,39,900

Ahead of its in-person “Pro and Tell” media briefings in Los Angeles, Apple has officially taken the wraps off its flagship compact workstation: the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6. Arriving alongside a refreshed 24-inch iMac, the new notebook delivers a generational computing upgrade aimed squarely at software developers, creative directors, 3D animators, and AI researchers.

In India, the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 starts at ₹2,39,900 (or ₹2,27,900 with education pricing) for the base tier featuring 16GB of unified memory and 1TB of high-speed SSD storage. In the United States, retail pricing begins at $1,999.

Anchored by Apple’s all-new M6 processor, the laptop integrates a 12-core CPU, a 12-core GPU, and a dedicated Dual 16-core Neural Engine.

Paired with a 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display with an optional nano-texture finish, Wi-Fi 7, and a record 24-hour battery life rating, the machine reasserts Apple’s dominance in mobile compute efficiency.

Silicon Architecture: The Apple M6 Generation

The centerpiece of the refresh is the debut of Apple’s M6 system-on-chip, engineered to maximize single-threaded responsiveness and generative AI processing:

• 12-Core CPU Configuration: Fabricated on an advanced 2nm-class node, the M6 features a rebalanced cluster of high-performance and high-efficiency cores, delivering up to 1.3x faster CPU execution than the previous-generation M5 and up to 3.3x faster image processing in apps like Affinity Photo compared to older M1 architectures.
• 12-Core Next-Gen GPU with Ray Tracing: Graphics throughput receives a substantial boost with a redesigned 12-core GPU featuring hardware-accelerated ray tracing and mesh shading. In complex Blender 3D render passes, the M6 is rated at up to 11.7x faster render performance compared to the 13-inch M1 MacBook Pro.
• Dual 16-Core Neural Engine: Reflecting Apple’s deep commitment to on-device generative computing, the M6 incorporates two synchronized 16-core NPU clusters. The configuration yields up to 13x faster Time to First Token (TTFT) performance for local Large Language Model (LLM) processing, executing complex Apple Intelligence prompts, code generation, and diffusion models completely offline.
• Unified Memory & Bandwidth: Memory configurations start at 16GB of unified RAM, with configure-to-order steps scaling to 24GB (+₹24,000) and 32GB (+₹48,000) with memory bandwidth clocking up to 170GB/s on top-tier trims.

Visuals & Input: Liquid Retina XDR with Nano-Texture Option

The display remains a benchmark for creative workflows, now offering enhanced anti-reflective versatility:

• 14.2-Inch Liquid Retina XDR Canvas: Pushing a resolution of 3024 × 1964 pixels (254 PPI), the mini-LED display features 1,000 nits of sustained full-screen brightness, 1,600 nits of peak HDR brightness, and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio with adaptive ProMotion 120Hz refresh rates.
• Optional Nano-Texture Glass: Addressing outdoor workflows and high-glare studio environments, Apple has brought its etched nano-texture glass finish to the 14-inch M6 lineup as an optional configure-to-order upgrade for an additional ₹18,000 ($150), scattering ambient light while preserving image contrast.
• macOS 27 Golden Gate: Shipping out of the box with macOS 27 (Golden Gate), the operating system introduces redesigned system-wide pull-to-refresh mechanics across Safari and Mail, expanded Apple Intelligence writing assistants, and unified iPhone mirroring.

Endurance & I/O: 24-Hour Battery Life and Wi-Fi 7

Power efficiency gains under the M6 node allow the internal cell to reach unprecedented runtimes:

• 24-Hour Battery Life: Under standardized video streaming and light web browsing tests, the internal lithium-polymer battery delivers up to 24 hours of operating endurance on a single charge—representing the longest battery life ever recorded on a Mac laptop.
• Comprehensive Pro Connectivity: Unlike consumer thin-and-lights, the chassis retains a full suite of physical ports: three Thunderbolt 4 / USB-C ports, a full-sized HDMI 2.1 port supporting multichannel audio and 8K external displays, an SDXC card slot, a high-impedance 3.5mm headphone jack, and a color-matched MagSafe 3 charging port.
• Next-Gen Wireless: Outfitted with Apple’s upgraded networking controller supporting Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) and Bluetooth 6 for lower data transfer latency and wider wireless bandwidth.
• 12MP Center Stage Camera: The display notch houses an upgraded 12MP Center Stage webcam with Desk View support, keeping users centered during video conferences while simultaneously showing their physical desk workspace.

Critical Trade-Offs & Buying Verdict

At an opening price of ₹2.4 lakh, the M6 MacBook Pro sits in an undeniably premium tier:

1. Who It Is Built For: Mobile professionals, software engineers compiling multi-container codebases, video editors grading 4K/8K ProRes footage on location, and users who demand industry-leading 24-hour battery endurance without being tethered to a wall outlet.
2. The Price-to-Performance Reality: While the base M6 offers stunning single-thread and AI leaps, the starting price of ₹2,39,900 sits very close to previous M5 Pro inventory (₹2,49,900). Creators who depend purely on multi-stream 8K video exports or multi-GPU 3D rendering might still find higher memory bandwidth on outgoing ‘Pro’ silicon comparable to the baseline M6.
3. Display Considerations: Those holding out for rumored tandem OLED touchscreens should note that this 14-inch M6 model retains the tried-and-true Liquid Retina XDR mini-LED panel-now made significantly more versatile with the ₹18,000 nano-texture matte option.

Combining a 12-core CPU/GPU architecture, a Dual 16-core Neural Engine, and an unprecedented 24-hour battery lifespan, the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 sets the computational benchmark for professional laptops entering 2027.
