The previous month, HMD Global has unveiled the Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 1 and Nokia 8110 4G phones at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018. Now, according to recent information, the company is planning to launch these smartphones in India starting from next month.
HMD Global CEO Florian Sieche is aiming to rank Nokia among the top five phone brands in the country. So this year the company will be investing more in the retail presence, consumer engagement, and advertising.
HMD Global India head Ajay Mehta is of the view that offline channel is the core strength of the company. “Online is about 30% of the market, but it is an important part. It plays a very important role. If you want to be among top players in India, you have to have a good play in e-commerce and online,” Mehta said.
At present, the company is in talks with its manufacturing partner Foxconn to ramp up the manufacturing of existing Nokia smartphones and feature phones in India.
The company aims to is launch Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 1 phones in India. The Nokia 8110 4G may collaborate with Jio and debut in the Indian market in May. While the Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 1 will come after Nokia 8110 4G.
