This is the Flow Hive 2. While it might look like a tiny house, it’s really an innovative beehive that seamlessly provides fresh, pure, and unprocessed honey straight from the tap. It also transforms you into a backyard beekeeper without the need for a lot of space, time, heavy lifting, and additional expensive processing equipment that’s typically required in beekeeping. Using a patented split cell technology, a partially formed honeycomb must first be finished by the hardworking bees.
The World’s Best Bee Hive
An observation window allows you to see when the honey is ready to be extracted from the tap without having to open up the hive. Plus, the observation window allows you and your family to marvel at the absolute genius of this process. Once filled and capped, you can turn the flow key, which makes the cells in the comb split. This creates outlets for the honey to easily flow down while the bees remain untouched on the surface of the comb.
Then you can relish in the harvest by filling up small batches directly into your jar. Since there isn’t any blending of conventional harvesting, you and your family’s taste buds can savor subtle and sometimes not so subtle flavors with seasonal variations in color, flavor, and bouquet. It’s important to note that distinctive flavors in each jar will reflect your specific location and seasonality of the nectar flow in your environment. The Flow Hive 2 is made from sustainably sourced timber with brass fittings.
It also comes with a tray to trap pests and the hive’s legs can be adjusted for uneven ground. The Flow Hive 2 was invented by the father-son duo, Stuart and Cedar Anderson, who hails from Australia. The Andersons believe in harvesting honey in a gentle way, creating community, and educating others on the importance of bees, and empowering beekeepers. Flow Hive 2’s extraction process is reportedly very gentle without disturbing the bees, which isn’t always the case in the standard process. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced beekeeper, you can enjoy the benefits of the Flow Hive 2.

- The World’s Best Bee Hive – Flow Hive 2.
Drew, WA-USA (NASA Engineer) – One of the coolest things I’ve ever done in my life was pulled out the first frame crawling with bees. And you just go, why didn’t I do this 20 years ago?
John, TX-USA – Learning about bees has changed, literally, the way we look at our community, the world.
Johanna Griggs, Australia (TV Presenter) – You learn not to just, respect bees, but to absolutely adore and love them. And then right at the end of this incredible experience where you can’t believe it can get better, you have this amazing moment where you watch your honey trickle out of your hive with different variations in color, and yet look at all these bees, they’re as happy as can be. They’re completely oblivious.
Hilary, CA-USA (Girl Next Door Honey) – Honey harvesting is such a pain, it’s a tremendous amount of work and it makes a huge mess, very disruptive to the bees. It’s kind of a disaster no matter what you do. You just end up with honey everywhere. So to actually just have it pour out of the side of the hive into a jar and skip all of that mess is amazing.
Corey Brill, CA-USA – Every time I harvested, I was killing a lot of bees. Just poor bees kinda stuck in their own honey.
Chris Homsworth, Australia – No disturbance to the bees. It’s pretty epic, Cedar. Good invention.
Kathryn, CA-USA – When I heard about the Flow Hive, I’m like, oh my god, this is genius because now I can get honey but I don’t have to disturb the bees doing it. It doesn’t mean you don’t have to do the work. You still have to inspect your hive.
Michael Bush, NE-USA – Gives you a method of harvesting that is so convenient, it’s mind-boggling. It’s certainly the only revolutionary thing I’ve seen come out of beekeeping in 150 years.
Paul, HI USA– It’s easy to go and harvest one frame, two frames or all six frames so you can keep up with the bees.

So How Does Flow Hive 2 Work?
The Flow Frames are a partially formed honeycomb matrix. The bees cover the frames in wax, complete the comb and fill the cells with honey. When the frames are full and capped, the honey is ready to harvest. You then turn the key and channels form inside the comb allowing the honey to flow down and out into your jar while the bees are left undisturbed on the comb surface. Then you simply turn the key to reset the frames. And the bees will remove their wax capping, complete the comb and refill the cells with honey again.
