PlayStation 6 Leak Reveals Zen 5 CPU, UDNA GPU, and 8K Gaming Potential

Recent leaks indicate that Sony’s PlayStation 6 (PS6) development is advancing rapidly. According to a report by leaker Kepler_L2 on the NeoGAF forums, the console’s system-on-chip (SoC) design has been finalized and is now in the pre-silicon validation stage. Cutting-Edge Hardware

The leaked information suggests that the PS6 will feature a semi-custom APU developed by AMD and produced by TSMC. This chip will combine AMD’s Zen 5 CPU and UDNA GPU, both leveraging advanced fabrication technologies. AMD reportedly secured the contract over Intel back in 2022.

The Zen 5 CPU is rumored to include 8 cores and 16 threads, promising substantial performance improvements compared to the Zen 2-based CPU in the PS5. Meanwhile, the UDNA GPU—formerly known as RDNA 5—will use TSMC’s N3E process node. It is expected to incorporate advanced features such as X3D cache technology, akin to the Ryzen 7 9800X3D desktop processor, delivering superior gaming and computational power.

Next-Level Gaming Performance PlayStation 6

Sony’s PlayStation 6 (PS6) is expected to push gaming boundaries thanks to the Zen 5 CPU and UDNA GPU combination., which supports 4 K gaming at 120FPS and 8 K gaming at 60FPS For comparison, the PS5 delivered a performance leap from 1.84 teraflops (PS4) to 10.3 teraflops. While the exact performance specs of the PS6 are still under wraps, reports suggest the console will employ AI-based upscaling technologies to optimize visual quality.

Sony is also expected to enhance its PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology, alongside AMD’s forthcoming FidelityFX Super Resolution 5 (FSR 5). These advancements aim to deliver crisp, high-definition gaming experiences even without native 8K rendering.

The PlayStation 5 debuted in November 2020, and based on rumors, the PS6 could hit the market as early as 2027.
