The Sony Xperia R1 and

Xperia R1 Plus were launched in India last year. Both are the mid-range smartphone. These devices run on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. Now, company has released Android Oreo update for R1 and R1 plus.

The Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Xperia R1 and the Xperia R1 Plus brings some new features like reminders for unfinished tasks such as emails in drafts and messages. It also brings a new feature called Xperia Actions which intelligently suggests actions based on user’s usage with all new games and community features. This update also brings contextual menus for app shortcuts which on long pressing will show more options.

The new update also includes Android Oreo features such as Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode, Notification dots, Smart Autofill, redesigned Quick Settings menu, faster boot time, and other bug fixes and system improvements, with a new Android security patch.

After installing this new oreo update some users are reporting bugs-Wi-fi SSID connection and some third-party app crashes, unable to upload/download media from WhatsApp, Google Play Store showing notice of it being uncertified. Hope the company will take a look at this bugs quickly and will provide solutions via update.

Recently Sony launched Xperia XZ2 at the Mobile World Congress last week. Now, a new report suggests that the company is working on a new flagship device. The new flagship device will come with a bezel-less display as well as 4K resolution.

According to report the phone’s design will be based on Sony’s new “Ambient Flow” design language. But the report doesn’t reveal its name or model number. It suggests that the flagship will feature a 5.5-inch display with 4,320 × 2,180 pixel screen resolution with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The device will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage.

Last year the company also released a 4K display smartphone that was Xperia XZ Premium. The XZ Premium comes with a 5.5-inch display with 4K resolution with HDR support.

If we talk about Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 compact which was launched at MWC 2018 in Barcelona. These are the first devices from the company to feature a trendy full-screen display.

The Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact both come with a 5.7-inch and 5.0-inch 18:9 displays respectively and are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chipset with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage which can be expand up to 400GB.

Both devices feature a 19MP Sony IMX400 f/2.0 sensor at the back with 5-axis stabilization, hybrid laser-phase detection-contrast autofocus, and burst autofocus. On the front a 5MP camera with f/2.2 aperture and 23mm wide-angle sensor. The rear camera and front camera both support the 3D creator.

The Xperia XZ2 packs with a 3180mAh battery with support for wireless charging while the XZ2 Compact comes with a 2870mAh battery without wireless charging support and scheduled to arrive in late March or early April but pricing has not been revealed yet.

Barely five days after that launch event, a new leak has emerged of the specs of three Sony smartphones in the Xperia family. The smartphones go by the names Sony Xperia XZ1, Xperia XZ1 Compact and Xperia X1 and these three are being scheduled for release on September 1 at the 2017 IFA Berlin.


The Sony Xperia XZ1 is pack with  5.2-inch 1080p display and is powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor. The processor is backed by 4GB of RAM and there is a 3000mAh battery onbaord.

On the other hand, the Xperia XZ1 Compact is listed with a compact build, sporting a 4.6-inch display with just an HD resolution (1280 x 720p).

But the disappointment is the device is listed as packing a Snapdragon 835 chip as well as 4GB of RAM and a 2800 Mah battery.

Sony Xpera X1 has the listing of a mid-ranger, with a Snapdragon 660 chipset onboard. The Xperia X1 is also listed with a 5-inch Full HD display as well as a 4GB RAM and 2800mAh battery. All three models are said to use Sony’s new generation of camera technology.
